Selected work from my journey at GoodRx

As GoodRx’s 5th in-house designer, I worked on growing GoodRx Gold’s subscriber base. I also engaged in design systems work and got to hone my illustration skills during my time here.

I grew alongside GoodRx as it scaled from 100 to nearly 800 employees and was lucky to be a part of its IPO in 2020.

Gold registration

GoodRx Gold (Gold) is GoodRx’s paid membership program that provides Americans even bigger savings on their prescriptions and offers additional services, like telehealth and home delivery, when they subscribe.

I initially worked with a fellow designer to provide support on integrating Gold registration into our native apps. To expand Gold’s growth potential, I owned the web MVP and eventually led design on the Gold Growth team, where we primarily focused on getting users through Gold registration on all platforms and converting them to a membership trial.

Upsell optimization

Early on, I explored numerous Gold upsell concepts and worked with Product, BI/Data, and Engineering to implement and test them often. I also collaborated with UX Research, Content Strategy, and Marketing to discover opportunity areas and touchpoints where GoodRx users could benefit from upgrading to a Gold subscription.

Today, we house 7 unique evergreen upsells in our app and iterate on them as our product continues to evolve.

Design system 1.0 and Matisse Design System

When I joined, GoodRx didn’t have a design system that established UI standards. Designers were creating bespoke components that led to visual inconsistencies across platforms. As our team started to scale, standardization was necessary.

My colleague and I started GoodRx’s first design system initiative for web, auditing and putting accessibility at the forefront of our craft. We worked closely with Engineering to ensure our components were technically feasible and linked in Storybook.

Design system 1.0 set the precedent for subsequent design system work at GoodRx and was eventually overhauled by 2.0 (Matisse Design System, or MDS) in 2021.

By that time I had transitioned into working on Gold web registration, which became the first ever web project at GoodRx to fully consume MDS. I worked closely with the lead systems designer to audit registration and account for additional elements, as well as pressure test my final designs with MDS’s new, flexible components in Figma.

Branding and illustration

To help add some personality to our products, I created supporting visuals and early branded elements for GoodRx Gold, GoodRx Care, and our blog.
